Many studies conducted in the past often suggest that being one with nature only has benefits. It is when we disconnect, that’s when things take a turn for the worse. Don’t believe us? Doctors have found time and again, that post-surgery patients recover quicker and require less medication if they’re surrounded by flowers, plants or even scenic pictures. It suggests that nature reduces stress and positively impacts in healing our bodies. Not only does nature contribute to boosting your mood, it also affects your nervous, immune and endocrine systems and helps them function better.
Naturally, if you place yourself in an unfriendly environment, you are likely to feel anxious, vulnerable or even depressed. This would not only negatively impact your mental state but also your physical state. You might find that often when you spend hours on your laptop or your phone, once you get out of it, you feel displaced and disoriented. Disconnecting from social media and reconnecting with nature is just what you might need.
Nature has been proven to help cope with pain. As we have been trained to find elements in nature calming and restorative, we automatically associate a scenic surrounding with a peaceful one. Studies also show that nature restores your mood immensely. Many people agree that spending time outside instantly makes them feel better, they no longer feel uneasy and claim to regain some balance. Additionally, being close to nature and away from our gadgets automatically makes us more attentive and aware of our surroundings. Not only that, since we have been programmed to admire the beauty of nature, often becoming engrossed in it is a great way to refresh your mind and regain concentration for other tasks.
Though we don’t realize it, our contact with nature is essential for us to lead healthy and happy lives. Did you know that spending time outdoors or participating in outdoor activities could actually aid with eyesight issues such as myopia? Or even that working out close to nature helps you feel less tired and people have fewer chances of suffering from obesity?
The truth is, wherever we go nature is a companion that we can just not do without. In fact, apart from the physical healing benefits, nature also contributes in spiritual enhancement. You might also find that when you reconnect with nature, you are more grateful and appreciative of what you have and what is just being provided to you naturally without you having to put in any effort. It also heightens your sensory experience, making you more conscious and mindful of everything that encloses you.
There are absolutely zero consequences of being around Mother Nature and all its gifts to us, we only suffer when we completely remove ourselves from it.
So, whatever you do, make sure you take a breather every once in a while, and soak in the beauty of what life has to offer!
